YouTube is a video website that allows people to upload their own personal videos to the site. Since the site is free of charge, it has become the most popular video website in the world. If people wish to share their own personal videos with family, friends, or acquaintances, they can use YouTube to upload this video. Furthermore, people can use the YouTube site as a safe haven for housing their videos. Uploading a video to YouTube is fairly simple; the person will just need to follow a few steps.

Step 1
The first step is to go to the YouTube website and create an account. This can be done by clicking the blue Sign In button at the top right corner. Once you have clicked this button, you will be taken to a page that will allow you to enter your username and password. This is where you will need to create your account. If you simply click on the red Create An Account button at the top right corner, you will be able to follow the steps needed to create your account. Before you begin to complete the information for your new account, you should have your own Gmail account. By having your Gmail account before you create your YouTube account, you will save yourself a lot of time.

Step 2
Now that you have created your YouTube account, you will need to go to the YouTube website and sign in with your new username and password.

Step 3
At the top center of the YouTube page, you should see an Upload tab. You should click this tab, for this is where you will begin to upload your video. At this point, you will need to upload the video file from its saved location.

Step 4
While the video is uploading, you can add different descriptions to it. By adding descriptions to it, you and others will be able to find it faster when searching through the millions of YouTube videos. The first description to add will be a title. You can add the title by typing it into the Title box. Next, you will add one or two sentences that describe the video. These sentences can be typed into the Description box. Finally, you can add tags to the video. Tags are keywords for the video, and these can be typed into the Tag box. Also, you will want to put the video into a category, and this can be done by clicking the Category tab.

Step 5
You will always want to add your privacy preferences. If you do not want for the whole world to be able to view your video, you will want to mark the video as private. If the video can be viewed by everyone, you will want to mark the video as public.

After completing these steps, you will have your own YouTube video.

If you own more than one or two apple products capable of downloading apps. you’re probably familiar with the hassle of needing to switch devices to use different applications. There are ways to get around this, however. Today, you’ll be taking a look at how to sync apps that are on one Apple device to another. For this example, we’ll be using the iPhone and the iPad to demonstrate how it works. This can, however, work in either direction with any app-capable devices you own.

First, you’ll need to open up iTunes. You probably already have this installed on your computer but, in case you don’t, you can easily download the latest version from the Apple website. Once you’ve got it open, just connect your iPhone to your computer by its USB cable. Give it a moment to connect, let the program talk to it, etc., and it will eventually appear on iTunes under “Devices” in the left column.

Once it’s been detected, click the name of your device to open the list of syncing options. In the bottom right corner, you’ll see a button that will sync the device right away. Click that and step away from the computer for a bit. The sync button backs up all of your apps in iTunes and, depending on how many apps you have, that can take a while. Once it’s done backing up all of your apps, disconnect the iPhone from the computer.

Now, you can attach the iPad to your computer. Again, give iTunes a bit of time to detect your device. Once you can see the device’s name under “Devices”, you’re ready to start. Just click the name and then click “Apps” at the top of the iTunes main screen. Once you’ve done that, you’ll see a list of all the apps that are currently on the computer with iTunes, including the ones you synced from your iPhone, with check boxes next to each one. If there are any particular apps you don’t want on your iPad then go ahead and uncheck them. Once you’re satisfied that only the apps you want are selected, click “Apply” in the bottom right corner. Again, you’re going to have to wait a bit for it to transfer everything. Once it’s done with the transfer, you can go ahead and disconnect your iPad. Open up your list of applications on the iPad to make sure you didn’t forget to check or uncheck any apps and you’re done. Just like that, you’ve moved every app you wanted from your iPhone to your iPad.

As mentioned earlier, this works in either direction with any Apple product that can download apps. If you want to move apps from your iPod touch to your iPhone, just follow the same instructions. If you’ve got a fairly fast computer, this can be a relatively fast process. If your computer is on the slower side, however, you may want to set aside thirty minutes to an hour if you have a lot of apps.

In the past couple of years, some companies have been straying away from the “standard” universal remote with varying degrees of success. Logitech has been one of the companies with the greatest amount of success in this field with their “Harmony” remotes. The question, however, is whether or not the Harmony 1000 lives up to the reputation of its predecessors.

First of all, the method used for syncing it to different devices is quite handy. Rather than entering some byzantine code you can only hope works, the Harmony 1000 can simply download a profile for almost literally any device from the Logitech website. Don’t make the mistake of thinking this only means TVs or DVD players. You can use this on just about anything that has a remote, up to and including lights, fans, and AC units. One of the great things about this is the functionality it provides. Anything the original remote for the device – for example, a DVD player – could do, the Harmony 1000 can emulate. Thanks to its LCD screen it can just create a whole new menu for any nonstandard functions your device has. The slight downside to this is that you need to go through a seperate menu to get to these nonstandard functions. It’s not all that big a problem but you do notice it.

Speaking of the screen, though, you’d imagine this thing would burn through batteries like nobody’s business. Luckily, this isn’t really a problem since it comes with its own rechargeable battery. The battery can last for a couple hours but there’s really no need for it to do so. Instead of plugging the remote into the wall you set it on a small stand that automatically recharges the battery while still letting you use it. A big bonus to this is you never have to go hunting for the remote again. Not that you really would anyway. The Harmony 1000 is many things but small isn’t one of them. This is a sizable two handed remote. It’s not all that heavy but the size makes it just a tad awkward to use.

One thing a lot of people will really like, especially if they’re more technically inclined, is that you can cue multiple actions to one command. For example, let’s say you want to watch a DVD. You can set up the remote ahead of time so that, with one button push, your lights dim, your TV turns on, your DVD player opens the tray, and your input selector switches over to DVD input. It’s the touches like that that make the Harmony 1000 such a nifty piece of technology. There is, however, one big downside. Depending on where you go to get one, you can spend up to 500 dollars, USD. If you can afford to pick this up, you’re guaranteed to love it. Unfortunately, unless you can find a sale it’ll be relatively hard to do that until the price drops quite a bit more. Overall, a good device that’s just a bit too expensive.

Finding a good external hard drive can be a challenge, no matter how savvy a shopper you are. Between poor quality parts, prices far in excess of value, and a lack of word-of-mouth, it’s one of the harder items to shop for. With all of the different companies that produce external hard drives, it can be even harder to find one that’s worth purchasing from. Luckily, there are a few tricks you can use to make sure you’re getting the highest quality for your money.

First of all, you need to figure out whether you’re willing to pay a bit more to get higher quality. There are two basic types of hard dries available, whether you’re talking about internal or external, and each has their ups and downs. Your standard “platter” hard drives are basically the same kind we’ve had since the ’90s. They have magnetic disks inside that are read as they spin. These tend to be much cheaper, especially at larger sizes, but at the expense of not being as fast. The other kind of hard drive is a “Solid State Drive”. These are basically really big versions of USB flash drives. They’re extremely fast, and fairly long-lasting, but they are going to cost quite a bit more than a “platter” hard drive. If you’re willing to spend the extra money, a solid state drive is the way to go. Having no real moving parts means they’ll usually last a bit longer, as well as access data faster, but for some the price just isn’t worth it.

After that, figure out how much space you’ll need on the drive. It can be tempting to just grab a 1 or 2 terabyte drive and call it a day but this can be a mistake. For one thing, terabyte drives tend to be much larger, physically, than smaller drives. If you’re getting an external drive so you can easily move between computers, you’ll want to get something that can fit in your pocket. This is why figuring out how much space you need can be so important. If you’re just using the drive as an extra hard drive for your PC then feel free to grab a terabyte drive. If you’re using it to transfer pictures, text, music, etc., consider getting a smaller 60 or 120 gigabyte drive. If you plan to use it to transfer bigger items, such as HD video or whole programs, consider a 120 to 250 gig drive. They’re a bit bulkier, but are still small enough to fit in most pockets.

With all that done, it’s time to pick a company. This is probably the easiest step, as a quick web search can tell you all you need to know. Pick a couple of hard drives that fit nicely into your price and size range and do an internet search for reviews. A quick search for “‘hard drive name and number’ review” can usually give you a couple dozen reviews. Simply see which one has the most positive – or least negative – reviews and you’ll have your hard drive of choice.

These tips should help you find the perfect hard drive for your purposes. If you’re having a hard time deciding between two or more hard drives, however, do a search on reviews for the company that makes them. This can give you an idea of who has the better warranties, which can be a helpful piece of information to have, and the best tech support. Overall, though, just keep in mind that neither the cheapest or the most expensive option is always the best.
